10-ways-to-love-self_LENT_2-20-2015Several years ago pop singer Whitney Houston recorded “The Greatest Love of All,” and one phrase of the song stands out in my mind: “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.”

Is self-love really the highest form of love? I seriously doubt it.

Yet I find myself thinking about self-love, and I don’t think it’s an accident that I am doing so during Lent. After all, Jesus said the second greatest commandment is “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).
